Let the monkey out.
A class for grown-ups who want to move, play, be foolish and feel what their body already knows.
What is monkey?
monkey mixes six ways of working with the body into one class. Some weeks lean one way, some another. Nothing needs to be performed and nothing needs to be good.
Movement
Waking the body up: weight, breath, floor, space.
Play
Games that switch off the thinking head and switch on curiosity.
Clown
Being seen as you are, failing gladly, finding what is funny in that.
Dance
Music, rhythm and free movement. No steps to learn.
Theatre
Small scenes, voices and characters that come out of the body.
Psychosomatic
Noticing how feelings live in the body and letting them move.
What a session looks like
- Arrive. Shoes off, a few minutes to land.
- Warm up. Moving, shaking, breathing, getting silly.
- Play. Games in pairs and as a group.
- Explore. The theme of the day: a clown exercise, a dance, a scene.
- Land. Rest, and a short round to share if you want to.
Everything is an invitation. You can always sit out and watch.
Who it's for
Anyone curious. No dance, theatre or clown experience needed. Wear clothes you can move and roll on the floor in.
